Brown Line Coffee Crawl

In the newest edition of the coffee crawl, we’ll explore three high-quality shops along the brown line: recently opened Intelligentsia 1871, CityGrounds Coffee Bar, and newly opened Bow Truss Coffee Roasters.

On September 14 & 28 at 1 pm, take off work early and crawl with us on your way to happy hour. We will weave our way from the Loop to Lincoln Park and end up in Lakeview to meet your happy hour needs. Each cafe’s barista or owner will present a flight of three coffees (that’s 9 different taste experiences!). Beef up your coffee vocabulary and get ready to learn and caffeinate. Taste your way through three of the greatest specialty coffee shops in Chicago!

  • Intelligentsia 1871 is the company’s newest location in Chicago, just opened this year. The cafe is located in historic Merchandise Mart. Open on weekdays, it serves the public on one side of the counter and 1871 members on the other side of the counter. This location also conducts weekly, free public education events.
  • CityGrounds Coffee Bar was established in 2011 and prides itself on its curated coffee program. While Metropolis Coffee is its mainstay, you will often find high-end guest roasters like Chicago’s Passion House Coffee Roasters and Boston’s Barismo on the shelves and in the menu.
  • Bow Truss Coffee Roasters just celebrated their two-month anniversary. Located on Lakeview’s bustling Broadway St., the cafe portion is in the front half while the roasting works is in the back half. Accompanied by quirks like a Pac Man game, you’ll be served a simple cup of coffee with no side of pretention.

This event is for adults only (18 years or older). Advance registration required.
