Tell me about Caffentures. Three cafes, pub crawl style. What are you drinking at each cafe? Do you try to vary the drinks people try or keep it consistent so people can really understand the intricacies of coffee? Do you leave it up to the baristas?
“We’re drinking sample flights of coffee, usually brewed in a pourover style. I’ve had espresso featured once, but because making espresso drinks tend to stop the customer and bar flow, I don’t suggest it to shops. The shop owners or managers choose the topics they want to discuss. Topics tend to be one variable: take brew temperature, for example. We’ll brew one coffee by the same method in three different temperatures: colder than ideal, ideal, hotter than ideal. This way, we can show the participants what changing that variable can do to that coffee and they can duplicate it at home.”
